Flamingro is a plant shoot and root promoter, which results in optimum plant growth and a healthier root system.
Flamingro contains not less than 21% Chitin (Poly N Acetyl D Glucosamine) Humic and Fulvic Acids.
1. Flamingro™ induces and enhances the natural defensive mechanisms in plants.
2. It increases local endophyte numbers in the soil. They enter the root system and create a barrier effect, where they prevent pathogenic microorganisms from attacking the roots and spreading disease.
In summary – the endophytes stop the pathogenic microorganisms, giving the plant’s roots a chance to thrive and grow a much bigger root mass, creating larger, healthier plants.
Chitin (pronounced KAI-TIN) is a natural chain of glucose molecules which are structurally related to cellulose, and normally found in the shells of crabs, lobsters, shrimp, and insects.
This compound also plays a role as a plant growth regulator by bolstering plant defences against disease.
Chitin increases the numbers of microbes in the soil. A Chitin amendment increases chitinolytic microbes in the soil rhizosphere.
In the rhizosphere, plants and bacteria can develop a mutually beneficial relationship under suitable conditions. When the interactions between the bacteria, the plants and the soil are balanced, both the plants and the bacterial populations in this zone function at a higher level as a result. When plants and beneficial bacteria are functioning in harmony in the rhizosphere, resources required for growth such as nutrients and water become more available through the mutually beneficial plant/bacteria relationship.
It is probable that a chitin amendment leads to alterations in the plant’s physiology and biochemistry. The physiology of a plant growing in chitin amended soil, is different from one growing in the absence of chitin.
Yes, the nitrogen content of pure Chitin is 6.9%.
Flamingro™ is a superior chitin-based biostimulant for optimum plant growth and a healthier root system.
With 30+ years of research behind Flamingro, this is a proven NZ-developed product. In New Zealand university trials, Flamingro increased clover root mass & shoot growth by 26%!
The physiology of a plant growing in Flamingro amended soil, is different from one growing in the absence of Flamingro.
A chitin diet is also the reason Flamingos are pink. That’s why we decided to name the product after flamingos, and then the GRO part refers to the increased growth Flamingro will result in.
Yes, please email Ian on [email protected] to request the documentation.
Flamingro is supplied as a dry meal in 12.5kg bags.
Trees & Vines: Apply 25kg per hectare in the spring and 25kg per hectare in the Autumn
Annual Crops: Apply 50kg per hectare 21 days before planting.
There are four different application methods to choose from. You can either mix Flamingro with water and spray on, use mechanical incorporation, mix with dry fertiliser and apply by ground spreader, or drill in with pneumatic drill or seeder.
Yes, we are certified by BioGro as an ‘Input For Organics’. This means that Flamingro is certified for use in certified organic food production.
In University trials of Flamingro, it increased clover root mass and shoot growth by 26%.
Root mass can be hard to see yourself, as when a plant is removed from the soil, the outermost parts of the roots are often left in the soil. But expect to see a larger, healthier root mass, increased vigour and increased production.
We run trials on established trees and vines over one to two years. The university trials on clover were carried out over a 12 week period.
